Post-pandemic working practices drive growth at Estilo Interiors

Estilo Interiors has turned in a record year, signing £27.6m’s worth of business.

The figure is more than double the previous year-end of £12.7m – when the Jewellery Quarter-based commercial interior design, fit-out and refurbishment company’s business was hit by the pandemic – and a third up on 2019, when Estilo Interiors serviced £20.3m of contracts.

Andrew Moore, managing director of Estilo Interiors, said the change in working practices since Covid is driving growth.

He said:

Office occupiers are on the move, seeking better quality space and high-end interiors to match. Employers are keen to make the office a real destination. Facilities such as dog pens/pet’s corners are among the new features employers are asking us to build in, to improve the working experience.

We’re also finding that occupiers and landlords are keen to achieve external accreditation for their spaces. The cost of achieving standards such as BREEAM, WiredScore, Smart Spaces and SKA* has often proved off-putting in the past. But post-pandemic, health, wellbeing and digital connectivity have all moved to the top of the agenda and employers are keen to be seen delivering these and we are able to provide solutions.

Among the fit-out projects Estilo Interiors has completed is the £1.6m overhaul of property manager MAPP’s offices in London and Birmingham. Law firm Clarke Willmott turned to the company to complete the £1.5m facelifts at its Birmingham and Taunton offices, while

Kite Packing’s new office in Coventry also benefited from a £1.4m Estilo Interiors makeover.

Manufacturer Hawker Siddeley Switchgear’s £2.9m works were also delivered by the company.

In addition to working for occupiers, Estilo Interiors has worked with landlords to deliver building refurbishments. Projects include the £2.5m makeover of Interchange, in Birmingham’s Edmund Street, and a £2.3m spend at Blake House, Birmingham. Cat A fit-outs have been completed or are underway at Lombard House, Great Charles Street; 54 Hagley Road and Newater House, Newhall Street, all in Birmingham. The £4.2m refurbishment of 10 Victoria Street, Bristol, was completed during the firm’s record year.

Andrew Moore said:

Landlords too have raised the bar, with Cat A+ fit-outs now becoming more commonplace. These fully fitted ‘plug and play’ solutions help attract tenants and gets them in to a building more quickly.

We are also advising landlords on net zero strategies, as they seek to make their buildings greener.

Although Birmingham-based, an increasing amount of Estilo Interiors’ work is outside the Midlands.

Andrew Moore said:

We’ve delivered projects in London, Exeter, Bristol and Cardiff in the last year. Widening our geographical net has also benefited our bottom line.
