Jewellery Quarter raises a latte for Macmillan

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Jewellery Quarter community raised over £8,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support with the help of over 20 local businesses taking part in the charity’s annual coffee morning.

Local businesses, residents and visitors enjoyed a cup of coffee and a slice of cake (or five…) in the Jewellery Quarter with all proceeds being donated to Macmillan.

The area was decorated with bright green Macmillan balloons inviting people inside to taste homemade delights. York Laurent, Arkade Property and Pomegranate are just some of the businesses that served up delicious cakes and biscuits that were enjoyed by all visitors.

But it wasn’t all about cakes, Betts Metal Sales, had a ‘Best of British’ themed fancy dress that saw the Queen, Sherlock Holmes and a human-sized jar of Marmite grace the Jewellery Quarter. They certainly raised a few eyebrows in meetings that day.

Perry Beeches II and IV conducted their own bake off competition complete with live music and raffles. Whereas The Big Peg invited guests into its reception to take part in a tombola and a raffle to win various prizes.
