Spring is in the air and the Jewellery Quarter is bursting with both Spring bulbs and things to do this month.

RBSA Gallery

From the 29th Feburary until the 7th April, RBSA is running two fantastic exhibitions. The RBSA Print Prize is a biennale exhibition, which celebrates all forms of print making and Drawing on the RBSA Collection – Dry Media Works 1822-2022 pulls wonderful artworks from the RBSA collection which use pencils, pastels and charcoal over the last 200 years.

The Hive

March is a busy month at The Hive. The Book Club is back on the 8th March as is the fanastic monthly Poetry Open Mic Night on the 19th March. The gallery will also be housing a NEW exhibition called Habitus, which opens on the 8th and runs til 22nd March featuring works by Mona Casey, Yvonne Hindle, Ana Rutter and Jennifer Wright. This exhibition addressed the processes of painting, sound, patternmaking and printmaking habitually used by the 4 artists to make their work, with the title taken from the Latin meaning ‘state of being’.

Stryx Gallery

Stryx are changing things up with a new Window Residency starting on 1st March called All Seeing Eye by Katherine Howes – exploring the symbol which has feature throughout history in many different cultures and societies.

Their free workshops continue which an Origami Eyes workshop on Saturday 6h April!

The Coffin Works

As well as their regular tours and self-guided experiences, The Coffin Works are taking advantage of the dark nights to bring you a special experience with Candlelit Tours– the next one is on 21st March and promises to be very atmospheric.

The Pen Museum

The Pen Museum continue with their mission to teach everyone beautiful penmanship with calligraphy workshops on the 31st March. These always sell out, so do book in advance!

The Friends of Key Hill and Warstone Lane Cemeteries

Monthly tours of Key Hill and Warstone Lane are always popular, and they look especially pretty with carpets of crocuses and sunny daffodils.  There is also a volunteer litter pick every month if you want to help keep them looking beautiful. The lighter evenings also mean that evening tours are back!

Assay Office

The Birmingham Assay Office has been hallmarking and assaying for 250 years. There’s now a chance for your to explore every month during their Discovery Day and in March they are also bringing back their ever popular Afternoon Teas on the 15th.

Gulp

Gulp is a one-of-a-kind meeting, dining and creative space for curious appetites with a taste for the extraordinary.

Join Matt (Mangia! Mangia!) for An Italian Easter at Gulp. Guests can expect a light lunch and treats, and a mini masterclass to make Agnelli Pasquali (Easter Lamb). Cuteness overload! Family friendly (suitable for children 8 and over).

Blue Orange Theatre

Blue Orange Theatre always have an exciting programme of shows and March is no exception with hilarious se-side splitting comedy Bert’s House from 14th-15th March and poignant and painfully funny comedy about family life The Memory of Water from 20th – 23rd March.

St Pauls Church JQ

St Paul’s are pleased to welcome back Fever with their Candlelight Concert series, with Hip Hop on Strings at 6.30pm and a Tribute to Taylor Swift at 8.30pm on 15th March. These Candlelight concerts bring the magic of a live, multi-sensory musical experience to awe-inspiring locations like never seen before, so get your tickets and enjoy music in soft candlelit and the beautiful acoustics of the Jeweller’s Church.
