Promoting the Jewellery Quarter at events
The JQBID sponsor and attend numerous events each year to promote the Jewellery Quarter. Some of our most recent events include the Great British Beer Festival, University Fresher Fairs and the sponsorship of Birmingham Museum Trust’s Virtual Christmas Market in 2020.
Great British Beer Festival – Winter 2020 – promoting the JQ’s hospitality sector at CAMRA’s national festival
In 2020, CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) based their national festival in Birmingham. The JQBID sponsored and exhibited at the event with two members of staff to promote the many pubs, restaurants and breweries in the JQ. An advert was placed in the show guide to promote local venues, a festival bar was named after the JQ, and hundreds of copies of the JQ Ale Trail were handed out to visitors.
University Freshers Fairs – engaging the student audience to promote the JQ’s offering
There are four universities in the Jewellery Quarter and every September we attend the Freshers Fairs to meet new students and introduce them to the JQ. Our JQBID visitor guides and leaflets from local businesses are an invaluable tool on these occasions. In 2020, we also attended the University of Law’s virtual fair, giving a presentation about the JQ and what’s available for students locally.
BMT Virtual Christmas Market – Christmas 2020 – supporting local traders through a city-wide online Christmas market
As local retailers and businesses remained closed for much of 2020 the JQBID sponsored the Birmingham Museums Virtual Christmas Market as an alternative method for businesses to reach customers. The online Facebook group and wide-reaching marketing campaign created an easy route to customers for local businesses who were missing out on footfall and traditional markets.
