Jewellery Quarter Christmas Lights Switch On 2019!
Join us for free entertainment and spectacular fireworks as the Jewellery Quarter Christmas Lights are turned on! This free event is taking place on Friday 15th November from 5 – 7 pm and has been kindly sponsored by Selina Birmingham – an elegantly designed boutique hotel and a hidden gem in the heart of the JQ.
The main event stage on The Golden Square (B18 6NF) will host free entertainment from Birmingham’s Voice of the Town Choir and the Bombshell Belles who will be singing a medley of well-known hits and classic Christmas carols. Warming up the crowd will be close-up magician Gavin Parson who will be mingling with the visitors. The bespoke jewellery-themed street lights and Christmas tree will be turned on at 6 pm just before the fireworks display is launched from the top of The Big Peg building. Visitors can also enjoy hot mulled wine and other drinks from the bar as well as delicious street food from Wafl and Kowaca. The main events on The Golden Square finish at 7 pm but the festivities will continue at the after-party hosted by our sponsors Selina Birmingham.
Luke Crane, Jewellery Quarter Development Trust Executive Director, adds “We’re so excited to turn on our Christmas Lights this year which is now the second biggest lighting scheme in Birmingham. We’re also incredibly grateful to Selina Birmingham for sponsoring the event and for hosting our first-ever after-party – it’s sure to be a fantastic end to the evening!”
The Christmas Lights Switch On has become a firm favourite locally, making it the official start of Christmas in the JQ. Be sure to come back in the next few weeks to see the Christmas Lights in all their glory and explore our first ever Christmas Window Shop Trail. The JQ is a fantastic place to shop for Christmas gifts and we are fortunate to have so many independent businesses including jewellers, cake shops, chocolate shops, florists and much more for visitors to explore.
