The countdown to Christmas will officially start when the Christmas lights are switched on in the historic Jewellery Quarter by Willard Wigan MBE, creator of the world’s smallest handmade sculptures in history!
Organised by the Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District (JQBID), this year’s switch on takes place on Friday 16th November.
The Jewellery Quarter Academy will begin the festivities on The Golden Square (Warstone Lane), singing carols from 4.30pm onwards. The live entertainment on stage, hosted by Free Radio Birmingham, includes a show stopping performance from a LED Ballerina dance troupe and The Bombshell Belles singing trio. At 6pm, the special guest will switch on the bespoke jewellery-themed lights and the Christmas tree, before a free spectacular fireworks display commences from the top of The Big Peg building.
Willard Wigan MBE said: “I am honoured to be invited to turn the Christmas lights on at the Jewellery Quarter. I’m very proud to be involved, especially as it’s supporting my home City.”
Visitors can enjoy mulled wine and other beverages from the indoor bar and tasty foodie treats from street food vendors Bournville Waffle Company and Canoodle Catering.
