As many children go back to school this week, it was also class in session for the Jewellery Quarter BID Management Committee today as it hosted its monthly board meeting at a local school.

The committee used a meeting room at Perry Beeches II Free School in Newhall Street. The school, which is the first completely new school to open in Birmingham for 15 years, was launched in September 2012 and has pupils from the Ladywood, Lozells, Hockley and Winson Green areas of the city.

Perry Beeches II follows the success of the Perry Beeches The Academy in Great Barr, which was named ‘The Most Improved School in the UK’ in 2008 after being deemed as failing a year before.  In 2011/2012, Perry Beeches was named ‘Outstanding Secondary School of the Year’ and ‘Overall Outstanding School of the Year’.

Keith Stanley, operations director for the JQDT and JQ BID, said: “The committee would like to thank the staff and pupils for their hospitality. The students we met were a credit to the school and themselves and we look forward to seeing Perry Beeches II go from strength to strength.”

Perry Beeches II headteacher Jackie Powell, said: “I’m delighted that the JQ BID Management Committee were able to visit the school and use our facilities. I’m very keen to work with more businesses in the Jewellery Quarter and would welcome anyone to use our meeting room.”

Please call Michele Peace on 0121 270 8090 or alternatively email [email protected] to discuss the possibility of booking a room.
