What is the JQBID?
A team of 10 employees work for the Jewellery Quarter BID (JQBID) which commenced on 1st September 2012.
Every five years, the local business community vote as to whether they wish to renew the work of the BID. The JQBID was renewed for a second term in 2017.

Over 700 organisations were asked to vote in the postal ballot between the 7th June and 5th July. The Jewellery Quarter BID received backing from 88 percent of those that voted by number and 85 percent by rateable value. Turnout was 38 percent by number and 42 percent by rateable value.
The ‘BID Renewal Proposal 2017-2022’ document outlines the main BID objectives that serve as the key focal areas for projects, initiatives and events for the second term. This proposal was created based on consultations with local businesses.
The JQBID's Key Focal Areas
Outlined in the BID Renewal Proposal, the team focuses on 6 key project areas.
- Attractive, Clean and Vibrant
- Safe and Welcoming
- Sustainable and Green
- Marketing and Promotion
- Investment, Growth and Networking
- JQ Heritage and Legacy
These 6 project areas are the basis for all initiatives, services and events that the BID team provides throughout the term. To learn more about the project areas, download the BID Renewal Document.

Who is a BID Levy-Payer?
The BID’s activities are principally funded via a BID levy charge set at 2% of rateable value (RV) as at 6th April 2017. This charge is payable by all non-domestic properties within the BID area (please see boundary map below) and is collected by Birmingham City Council. The funds are then passed to the Jewellery Quarter Development Trust (JQDT), an independent Community Interest Company (CIC) that operates the JQBID.
If you are a BID Levy Payer, find out about the benefits and opportunities available to you and your business by downloading the BID Renewal Proposal document or by visiting the BID Levy Payer web page.
