Business Studies students from Abbey College Birmingham will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to go behind the scenes at Disneyland Paris in February, where they will gain a unique insight into the managerial and operational issues at one of the world’s leading leisure attractions.

41 sixth form Business Studies students are preparing to embark on a four-day Disneyland Paris Educational Tour which will enable them to enjoy subject-specific seminars and workshops to help their understanding of how business runs at the resort.

Guided by a team of education experts, students will be able to gain an in-depth insight into the multi-billion pound resort empire, including: marketing and market research, finance, communications, customer service and the way in which human resources are managed and maintained.

While the group will be there to learn more about their subject, they will also be able to let their hair down and enjoy unlimited access to the park – including its rollercoasters and other famous attractions.

17-year-old Megan Wileman is in lower sixth form studying Business Studies, Biology, English Language, and Maths.

She said: “I think the visit will be amazing; it’ll be great to see how the management deals with customer service, particularly because the brand attracts so many visitors from different cultures and countries.

“While it’ll be hugely informative, I’m really excited to go to Disneyland and to explore the Walt Disney Studios, as well as having a go on some of the rides.”

Abbey College Birmingham Principal, Stephen Robinson, commented: “I’m delighted that our students will have this wonderful opportunity to experience the practical application of the theory they learn during their lessons in College.

“I want the students to get a proper taste for what goes on behind the scenes and how much work goes into keeping a business running smoothly, as well as enjoying the visit and the theme park itself.”

Last year 52% of students went on to study Business related undergraduate degree programmes from Abbey College Birmingham.
