Jewellery Quarter Designer-Makers showcase exclusive new collections at Symphony Hall this Christmas
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Each year during the festive period, a collective of Birmingham’s well-established and emerging jewellery designers exhibit at Centrepiece, a prestigious selling event at Symphony Hall. It’s the perfect opportunity to buy exclusive Christmas gifts from exceptional handmade creative collections, or commission truly one-off personal pieces.
The event will be running from Wednesday 25th November all the way to Wednesday 23rd December, and is open between 10am and 10pm daily. This year each designer has created a new collection to showcase exclusively for Centrepiece. What’s more, the collective is offering a 10% discount to celebrate Small Business Saturday on the 5th and 6th of November, so buyers can grab the chance to buy a truly unique Christmas present!
This annual event at Symphony hall started 18 years ago when the group saw a need to create a selling opportunity to display and promote the wealth of talented designer-makers in the Jewellery Quarter, who are usually hidden behind workshop doors. In partnership with the impressive venue, Symphony Hall, the first Christmas Exhibition in 1997 ran for four days and included just ten exhibitors. Since this successful debut the event has grown and developed each year, with 2015’s event hosting over twenty designers. The eclectic mix of elegant, distinctive and contemporary pieces provides a fantastic platform for local talent in a magnificent setting, promoting creativity and innovation.
The Centrepiece designers take turns to manage the exhibition, and will be on site to give advice and answer questions, as well as talk about their work, from initial ideas and designs to the complicated making processes. So, if you’re out and about doing a spot of Christmas shopping, or sampling the culinary delights of the German Market, why not pop in to see what’s on offer? Look for the displays on the left of the main doors, you can’t miss it!
