Hundreds of bags of costume jewellery alone have raised just under £20,000, whilst alluring watches and pocket watches have all flown above their auction estimates to sell at Fellows. There was also just under £10,000 worth of jewellery in the Online Jewellery sale (24th September), including rings, bracelets, necklaces and more, which sold to raise money the Society.
Items in the Online Watches & Watch Accessories sale, which closed on Monday 28th September included a group of five assorted pocket watches which sold for a full price of £267.96 and a group of four assorted pocket watches which sold for £197.18. The Silver & Costume Jewellery sale, which closed on Friday 25th September, contained a range of jewellery, both modern, historic, and from renowned brands which sold for charity.
The Costume Jewellery timed auctions at Fellows in particular often generate much-needed funds for various charities such as Heart Research UK and St Michael’s Hospice. Items featured on the Fellows website which are being sold on behalf of charity can be seen marked by a charity logo – an image of two hands open.
Laura Bishop, Watch Manager at Fellows Auctioneers, said:
“We sell a lot of items on behalf of various charities at Fellows but to raise nearly £30,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society during September is a proud achievement. We hope to continue raising funds for charities with items sold in our upcoming auctions, and thankfully the demand for these items has never been higher than it is now.”
