Fellows Auctioneers is thrilled to announce that it has become the first UK auction house to sell the highly sought-after Hermès Kelly en Désordre 20 handbag in Noir Epsom leather. The exceptional handbag fetched an impressive £20,800 including fees at Fellows’ Handbags auction yesterday, highlighting its desirability among collectors.

The Hermès Kelly en Désordre 20 offers a modern twist on the iconic Kelly bag, characterised by its asymmetric, deconstructed design that brings a contemporary flair to the typical Hermès’ design. Crafted from Noir Epsom leather, prized for its durability and structured finish, this exceptional piece has got attention from fashion enthusiasts worldwide. As with many of Hermès’ most exclusive handbags, the Kelly en Désordre 20 is produced in limited quantities, making it particularly difficult to acquire, even for seasoned collectors. This daring reinterpretation of the iconic design makes it a coveted piece, appealing to collectors seeking something truly distinctive.

The sale of this bag marks a significant achievement for Fellows Auctioneers, reinforcing our reputation as a leading authority in luxury accessories. Since launching our dedicated handbag auctions in 2016, we have consistently presented the most exclusive and desirable items available on the market. Held six times a year, our auctions attract international attention and showcase the finest luxury pieces. As the first auction house in the UK to offer this rare piece, we continue to set industry standards.

Our next auction is scheduled for 15th October 2024, and we are currently accepting consignments through online valuations as well as in-person appointments at our offices in London (Mayfair) and Birmingham (Jewellery Quarter).

It is not only Kelly bags for which Fellows achieves impressive auction results. Since 2011 Fellows has offered over 100 Hermès Birkins for sale in their auctions. The highest achieved price for which was in a 2021 auction. September 2021 saw the auction house sell a 2010 red Porosus Crocodile Birkin 35 with silver-tone hardware, achieving a price of £23,606 including fees.

Head of Handbags, Nicola Whittaker said of the result

“We are thrilled to have achieved this remarkable sale of the Kelly en Désordre 20, setting a new benchmark in the UK auction landscape. I think that this milestone has been made possible by Fellows’ reputation as a trusted source within the secondary market. We are well-known for our jewellery and watch auctions, so I am proud to see that the handbag offerings are being recognised in a similar fashion. In recent years, we have seen exceptional success with our handbag auctions, particularly with Hermès items. This is due in no small part to our team who consistently deliver outstanding results for our clients and provide excellent customer service to our buyers.”
