Jewellery Quarter whisky bar and tastings company, ‘The Birmingham Whisky Club’, is celebrating success over lockdown with growth into the UK online market.
After having to close their bar in March 2020, the company began to focus on online tastings and selling whisky and cocktail collection boxes online. These became popular and started attracting customers from around the UK.
Amy Seton, owner, comments:
“We have always had a strong, local audience and were surprised that, as well as our regulars, we had people attending our online tastings, and buying collection boxes, from Scotland, London, Manchester, Bristol and many other places around the UK. It was really heartening to know what we were doing was being enjoyed by a much broader audience.”
This online growth has meant the company has taken the decision to rebrand and change the name of the bar from ‘The Birmingham Whisky Club’ to ‘Grain & Glass’.
Amy adds:
“We’re still very much a bar for local whisky and cocktails lovers, but the change of name offers us a broader opportunity to capitalize on what we have achieved during lockdown. We’re now looking at what a post-pandemic world will be like for businesses and need to make sure we’re fully accessible to local customers as well as factoring in continued online growth. We’ve always been agile and were able to bring in some very talented local creatives to come up with our new design. We’re very excited by it!”
‘Grain & Glass’ will have the same bar offering of whiskies, cocktails, spirits and other drinks. Plus, all the tasting events will carry on later this year. This will now be complemented by ‘Grain & Glass @ Home’ to focus on the continuation of online events and whisky and cocktail collection boxes.
The Birmingham Whisky Club will continue to be part of the company, and focus on the membership arm with discounts and offers within Grain & Glass. Find out more on their website.
