Birmingham’s First Ever Whisky Bar to Open in JQ

Reading Time: 2 minutes

After running a hugely popular Whisky Festival for the past six years The Birmingham Whisky Club is due to open the city’s first Whisky Bar at 75 – 80 Vyse St on February 14th. Amy Seton, owner and co-founder of the Whisky Club, said: “I set up the whisky club six years ago and have helped to build up a thriving community of whisky lovers. Opening a bar was the logical next step, giving our members a home and creating a space to introduce more people to the exciting world of whisky”.

The bar will be located inside a disused space within the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter. The partnership with Birmingham Museums Trust (BMT) has been spearheaded by BMT Commercial Director, Alex Nicholson-Evans, who said: “I’ve worked with The Birmingham Whisky Club on a series of successful events over the last few years and when Amy and I were discussing the idea of a whisky bar we had lightbulb moment. Birmingham Museums Trust is an educational charity so we are always looking for interesting collaborations with local businesses and for creative ways to raise vital funds. The Birmingham Whisky Club bar will transform a currently empty space within the museum building and is a very welcome addition to the Jewellery Quarter.”

The bar will be open to all whether veteran whisky lovers or complete newcomers to the world of whisky with a large selection of unusual whiskeys and regular events. The interior transformation of the space will be done by Intervention Architecture including a bespoke bar area designed to evoke the look of an unravelled whisky barrel.

Ahead of the official opening there will be a Burns Bar pop-up over the weekend of the 27 – 28 January. With free entry and a complimentary dram of whisky on arrival, it’s sure to be a popular event!
