Virtual and Delivery Gifts in the JQ for Mother’s Day 2020
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Mother’s Day 2020 is nearly here! If your plans for Sunday 22nd March have had to be postponed, cancelled or altered following the government’s latest guidelines it can feel heartbreaking to not be able to visit your mother, or being able to give her the special day you had planned.
To help we have brainstormed some alternative ideas for items that can either be delivered straight to their door or redeemed at a later date.
Cocktails, bars and pubs
Taking your mother out for a drink is a classic way to spend some quality time together. As an alternative, JQ venues have offered up a host of alternatives to visiting in person. The Vanguard Bar is selling pre-bottled cocktails for takeaway at only £5 each. The Whisky Club sell gift vouchers on their website which can be used at future tasting events and are valid for 12 months. Arch 13 have decided that self-isolation can’t keep us away from the finer things in life and have launched a wine, cheese & meat care-package delivery service! They’re also experimenting with virtual wine tastings so be sure to follow them on social media. Many local pubs are offering take-away bottle service of all their delicious craft beers, rare wines and perfect gins.
Delicious food & sweet treats
Taking mum out for dinner or bringing round a cake might not be possible for everyone this year but there are plenty of JQ alternatives. Bake Even Cakery has launched a local delivery service for their mouth-watering boozy bakes as well as their afternoon teas including their unique Jewellers 24K Edible Gold Afternoon Tea. Or why not set a future date to take mum out to one of the Jewellery Quarter’s award-winning fine dining restaurants with a gift voucher to The Wilderness or Opheem. If you are still able to visit in person most local venues such as Pasta di Piazza and Anderson’s Bar & Grill have taken additional precautions to keep diners safe by adding additional space between tables and increasing their cleaning routines.
Experiences and Gifts
Flowers is often the go-to Mother’s Day gift as spring finally arrives. Local florists Lily Jones Flowers are still accepting orders and are happy to do a no-contact delivery if needed. For something a little unusual why not book a gift voucher for Escape Live and treat your mum to a fun-filled family-bonding experience. If something more relaxing is in order, a gift voucher to The Floating Spa is the perfect way to unwind and let her troubles float away.
Many of the country’s finest jewellery craftspeople are based here in Birmingham. If you’re looking to commission a bespoke item or are looking for an unusual piece, be sure to browse our Online Directory for a list of local jewellers.
