Two of the global leading vegan organisations are brought together as the Jewellery Quarter based National Vegan Society has become an official partner of Veganuary for 2020.
To celebrate, The Vegan Society is hosting ‘Pop Up for the Planet’, an event in London to encourage people to begin their vegan journey through samples, advice and special events. The four-week-long pop-up space in the capital’s Mare Street Market begins on 6th January and ends on 30th January. Mark Banahan, Campaigns Manager at The Vegan Society, said:
We are delighted to be an official partner of Veganuary for 2020. Veganuary’s month-long vegan pledge has been a huge success, which is shown in the extraordinary growth in participants since it was established in 2014. We hope that our Veganuary-themed event, Pop Up for the Planet, will continue to share the many benefits of veganism and help people take their first step towards becoming vegan.
The Vegan Society was founded in 1944 by Donald Watson and his friends who also coined the word “vegan”. There were just 25 members when the first magazine, Vegan News, was published in November 1944. The Society has had its national headquarters in the Jewellery Quarter for well over a decade.
