Happy 1st Birthday to Blue Orange Youth Theatre

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Blue Orange Youth Theatre, that provides an artistic platform for young people to express their creativity, is celebrating its first birthday.

Based on Great Hampton Street in the Jewellery Quarter, The Blue Orange Theatre first opened its doors in 2011 and has since produced 30 in-house performances and hosted numerous traveling theatre companies.

As the theatre grew in popularity, it extended its services to young people in 2012 by providing a weekly drama class that would be both fun and educational. The sessions teach basic drama skills as well as giving children the opportunity to devise, improvise and write their own scripts, all whilst building confidence and group work skills.

The classes are divided into juniors (7 – 12 year olds) and seniors (13 – 18 year olds). The younger children recently performed a theatre adaptation of popular film, ‘Jumanj’ whereas the seniors devised their own murder mystery called ‘Murder at the Manor’.

The next term begins on Saturday 20th September and will run until Saturday 6th December. For more information please visit www.blueorangetheatre.co.uk. For enrolment enquiries contact Holly Phillips on 0121 212 2643 or studio@blueorangetheatre.co.uk.
