Birmingham Light Festival
Need some more light in your life this February? From 19–22 Feb 2025, Birmingham Light Festival will transform the city centre with 11 illuminated artworks, creating a vibrant, annual event. The Jewellery Quarter will be getting two installations – Mycelium Network on Saint Paul’s Square and Ideas happen here on Newhall Square. The Newhall Square installation will remain permanently as a legacy project.
Street Food Festival
The Jewellery Quarter is set to ignite with mouth-watering flavours and infectious beats as Albion Square hosts its first Food Truck Festival of the year. Taking place on Friday, February 28th, from 6PM to 10PM, the event promises an electric mix of street food, music, and independent shopping, making it a must-visit for food lovers and culture seekers alike.
Just across from Albion Square, Temper and Brown will host a Friday night market in its atmospheric garden, adding to the vibrant festival energy. The evening market will feature a handpicked selection of artisanal goods, vintage finds, and even second-hand records, making it the perfect spot for music lovers and collectors to dig through crates while enjoying the night’s soundtrack.
Superbowl Sunday at SKRATCH Golf
Check out SKRATCH Golf on Sunday, 9th February for a great night of golf, food, and drinks. Enjoy two hours of golf, two pizzas, and four bottles of beer for just £40 per person (minimum of four per bay). Spaces are limited – call 01217 693499 to book your private bay!
University of Birmingham – Remembering is Painful, Forgetting is Unbearable: Creative Responses to Terror
“Remembering is Painful, Forgetting is Unbearable” is an exhibition held by The University of Birmingham at RBSA Gallery exploring how terrorism is remembered, whose voices are heard, and the role of art in processing trauma. Inspired by Anne Murris, who lost her daughter in the 2016 Nice attack, it examines the tension between memory and forgetting.
Come along to St. Paul’s Church on Wednesday 19th and Friday 21st February from 6-8pm to see the spectacular light installation in its grounds as well as the historic church. Guided tours, and tea and coffee, will be on offer, or you can simply enjoy the space and stillness of this beautiful sacred space.
