The JQBID is excited to launch a brand-new online platform that will make it easier for people to search for independent businesses in the JQ.

The new platform forms part of the JQBID’s wider marketing strategy to promote the Jewellery Quarter as as one of the best tourist destinations within the West Midlands.

Discover JQ is a brand-new, search-driven website that places user-experience at the forefront and provides a new marketing channel for local businesses to promote their services. Every Jewellery Quarter based business will be given their own webpage which they can populate with copy, videos and imagery. Additional features include the ability for customers to leave reviews as well as an integrated map and message form.

Over time, Discover JQ will become the new destination website for the Jewellery Quarter, with the current JQBID website focusing on wider community news and other JQDT projects. Discover JQ, which will be launched in October, will form the core of the JQBID’s marketing strategy.

Here we list a few FAQs.

1. What will happen to the current JQBID website? (www.jewelleryquarter.net)

The current website will not change and will continue to be the main website for the JQBID. However, by creating a separate platform aimed at the visitor audience, this then frees up space on the current website to include content on other projects being run by the wider JQDT (Jewellery Quarter Development Trust). These include the JQ Neighbourhood Plan, JQ Cemeteries and JQTH project. It will also allow us to upload more content that’s tailored towards a more B2B audience, including business support and BID Levy updates.

2. How will Discover JQ work?

Users will land on the website and will then be able to search for exactly what they want (jeweller, bar, beautician, hairdresser, solicitor). Each business will have its own listing page which has space for a company bio, customer reviews, message feature, discount offerings, as well as images and videos. Think of it as a more powerful JQ Directory (which is on the current JQBID website – www.jewelleryquarter.net/jq-directory).

3. Can I edit my own business page?

Yes – we really recommend you having ownership of your page. Each business in the Jewellery Quarter will automatically be created a business listing which will be populated with basic information. If you would like control over your listing (where you can update all your information and add any imagery) please email info@discoverjq.co.uk who will provide you with your own login details.

4. Are there any costs involved?

There are no costs involved to businesses. This platform is an additional marketing service provided by the JQBID.

5. Who is behind the Discover JQ platform?

The Discover JQ platform is a partnership between the JQBID and Hot Source Creative (HSC). The JQBID and HSC have been working together for the past 18 months on various marketing initiatives.
