Birmingham’s Local Tech Innovator Shortlisted for Medium Business of the Year at West Midlands Business Awards 2024

The Student Energy Group (TSEG) is thrilled to announce that they have been shortlisted for Medium Business of the Year at the prestigious West Midlands Business of the Year Awards 2024. This recognition follows TSEG’s recent successes, after being named Business of the Year at the Birmingham Awards and Tech Company of the Year at the UK Business Tech Awards.
The West Midlands Business of the Year Awards celebrate the most innovative, disruptive, and thriving businesses across the region. Independently judged, the awards are a real celebration of business excellence.

TSEG has been nominated for this award due to its outstanding growth and success within the PropTech sector. Since its founding in 2021, the company has quickly become known for its innovative approach to streamlining utility management for both students and landlords. TSEG’s technology simplifies complex challenges, consolidating all household bills into a single monthly statement, which has made managing utilities easier and more transparent.
The company’s growth has been nothing short of exceptional. Despite challenges such as the 2022 UK energy crisis, the company achieved a revenue of over £20 million in 2023, marking a 500% increase from the previous year. Along with its remarkable 90% landlord customer retention rate and 54% new customer conversion rate, this growth earned TSEG recognition in the Medium Business of the Year category. Additionally, TSEG achieved an 800% team growth the same year, further solidifying its position as an industry leader.
This nomination is not only a testament to TSEG’s disruptive technology, but its promise to ‘simply do the right thing’ for its team, customers and suppliers.
