Cordia UK, a member of Futureal Group, one of Europe’s largest property development companies, has announced significant progress on its Birmingham regeneration projects. The update was revealed at an event – “Catch up with Cordia” – held at the developer’s thriving commercial hub, The Bank, with city officials, stakeholders, and partners in attendance.

The event showcased Cordia UK’s ambitious vision to transform underutilised areas in the West Midlands into vibrant neighbourhoods, integrating modern residential and commercial spaces. The developer is committed to creating sustainable, community-focused developments across the region.

Andras Kárpáti, CEO of Cordia UK, and Gábor Futó, Co-Founder and Shareholder of Futureal Group, were joined by prominent guests, to share an insight into Cordia UK’s masterplan for the revitalisation of Great Hampton Street. Cordia UK’s pipeline includes build-to-rent developments, shared living spaces, and commercial properties, along with public realm enhancements to further improve the local environment.

The area is already experiencing transformation with completed projects such as The Bank, a commercial hub hosting diverse tenants, and The Gothic, a collection of restored heritage buildings that now house high-quality apartments for sale.

A key milestone celebrated at the event was the commencement of work on The Lampworks, Cordia UK’s first build-to-rent project. This development will deliver 148 energy-efficient apartments, featuring A and B EPC-rated dwellings, making it one of Birmingham’s greenest residential projects.

The foundation stone for The Lampworks was laid during a traditional ceremony, with Kárpáti and Futó burying a time capsule on-site. Guests had the opportunity to contribute brief notes to the capsule, leaving a legacy for future generations who will live or work in the Great Hampton Street area.

In a major announcement, Cordia UK revealed that its first shared living scheme, Bradford Works, has received planning approval. This landmark development will create Birmingham’s first shared living environment, offering 54 self-contained micro-apartments with communal spaces including lounges, kitchens, dining areas, workspaces, a wellness studio, and a roof terrace.

The 100% A-rated energy-efficient project, a refurbishment of an existing Jewellery Quarter building, will provide affordable homes in line with the West Midlands Combined Authority’s guidelines. Bradford Works is set to become a benchmark for shared living, catering to young professionals, post-graduate students, and freelancers, while preserving key heritage features of the building.
