A Birmingham-based global training company has given local businesses a taste of what it takes to be a world-class presenter.
OTD, which is based on Ludgate Hill, put aspiring presenters through their paces at a special training event for companies in the Jewellery Quarter’s Business Improvement District (JQBID).
Participants were given the chance to experience Power Presenter!, an OTD training programme which distils more than a decade of research into a presentation model designed to engage any audience.
Power Presenter! equips individuals with the techniques used by the world’s best presenters. Participants learn how to better understand their audience, adopt styles and sequencing, and use interactive technology to enhance their performance.
The programme has been delivered by OTD for more than a decade and has successfully developed the presentation and communication skills of employees in a variety of roles, including senior leaders, managers and sales teams. It is suitable for beginners and experienced presenters alike, and can be delivered face-to-face or in a virtual setting.
OTD head of coaching, Louise Roberts, said: “Business events, sales pitches and team meetings all work better with a dynamic approach to presenting, yet how many of us enjoy public speaking? We change mindsets by looking at the psychology of an audience, teaching people how to apply presenting models through practical exercises and one-to-one coaching.
“OTD has delivered Power Presenter! to large corporates and fast-growing SMEs in countries across the world, so it was rewarding to offer a workshop for local businesses in Birmingham. You could see in just a few hours the huge difference it made to the group, giving people the skills and confidence they need to communicate more effectively.”
Josie Wall, Marketing and Events Manager from JQBID who took part in the training event, said: “The Power Presenter Training was really engaging and practical, I was immediately able to implement the skills I learned when doing assemblies for secondary school children and that’s a tough crowd! I know that lots of our local Levy Paying businesses would benefit from this too so it’s brilliant to partner with OTD”
All proceeds from the event were donated to OTD community partner, SIFA Fireside.
