An online festival to promote the variety of independents in the Jewellery Quarter in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following the outbreak of COVID-19 in early 2020 and the subsequent lockdown, the 2020 JQ Festival was cancelled. In partnership with Birmingham Museums Trust, the JQBID organised and hosted an online event bringing the JQ’s independent businesses straight to people’s homes. JQ at Home was an online festival with of over 12 hours of entertainment including: cookery classes, workouts, craft workshops, cocktail making and heritage talks, all run by local businesses via their social media channels.
The festival was supported by a marketing campaign leading up to the event which generated large amounts of exposure, including slots on BBCWM, Heart FM and Midlands Today. Events which have been saved to business’s social media profiles have generated more than 1000 views.
