Jewellery Quarter company Jones & Palmer have expanded their endeavours to the neighbouring Bakkavor site in what has become a new creative hub of innovation they have dubbed the Media Works.
This new development which opened on Carver Street in June, is an innovative space which blends modern open plan working with an urban functional design embracing the quarter’s manufacturing heritage while channelling its present creative vibe.
“The Jewellery Quarter is a vibrant urban village—we can see this in the high-volume of digital and creative media individuals flocking to the area”, comments Edward Siddall-Jones, Director of renowned commercial property consultant SiddallJones, “there are very few large open plan office opportunities like this in the Quarter making it ideal for creative and digital media businesses.”
The Media Works boasts three floors of open plan office space, each floor circa 5,000 square feet of space. There is an entrance on the ground floor and each of the three floors are served by both stairs and an elevator. The new development has a fibre optic connection for internet access and ground floor parking for 19 vehicles as well as a bicycle shelter.
The development is due to open later this year with pre-lets already being taken. It can be leased either as a full floor or as flexible work space combinations perfect for small start-ups who may wish to work collaboratively with other media companies with serviced facilities and flexible tenancy terms.
“The idea is to form a creative hub for small to medium sized businesses – everyone will have their own space but will also be a part of this creative community within the building that bounces off each other.”
A creative corporate communication company currently occupies neighbouring buildings which can provide creative, technical support and web development services as well as in-house printing.
Luke Crane, Manager for the JQBID, comments “The Media Works is the latest in a series of welcomed developments like this. The Quarter is home to a budding arts, media and creative scene which compliments the acclaimed jewellery industry firmly rooted into this historic area—but more than that, there is a growing business community and social scene well served by various bars, restaurants, cafés as well as banks and a large Post Office. At just a stones-throw away from Birmingham City Centre, the Jewellery Quarter is a perfect location for a business to thrive.”
