Spark Media’s FPV Drone Film Lights Up Wembley’s Big Screens for England Match

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Birmingham-based video production company, Spark Media, was commissioned by the FA to create an exciting promo film marking Thomas Tuchel’s first match as England manager.

Using an FPV (first-person view) drone, the film gives football fans a rare glimpse of the route the England players take behind closed doors at Wembley Stadium when arriving for a match.

The film was officially released ahead of the World Cup qualifier between England and Albania and was featured on England football team’s official social media pages and played on Wembley’s big screens in front of the sold-out stadium just before kickoff.

The FPV drone captures aerial footage of the iconic stadium, taking viewers on a journey through the press conference room, the changing rooms, through the players tunnel, and out over the hallowed pitch. The drone then sweeps around the stadium seating before soaring over the famous Wembley arch for the ultimate finale shot.

The Spark team layered in football commentary sound bites and quotes from Thomas Tuchel in the sound design, to celebrate the new era with Tuchel as manager and the beginning of England’s World Cup qualifying campaign.

“It was incredible to work on this project,” said Spark Media Co-Director Scott Barnett. “Seeing our work on the big screens at Wembley was a huge moment for all of us. I’m very grateful that we had the opportunity to be part of something so special and I couldn’t be prouder of the team for making it happen.”
