Poppy Appeal in the Jewellery Quarter
Reading Time: 2 minutes
This year Josie Wall from the JQBID became the Poppy Appeal Organiser for the Jewellery Quarter, to ensure that local businesses, which struggled to get poppies and collecting tins in 2022 due to staffing changes at Royal British Legion, were fully stocked this year. Moving forward JQBID will continue to work closely with RBL to continue this relationship.
Thank you to all the local retailers who helped with selling poppies, and especially big thank you to staff from Howdens Insurance for running the stall at Tesco Springhill and to the cadets from Jewellery Quarter Academy who ran the in school collections and also lead the Remembrance Service in Warstone Lane Cemetery on Friday 10th at 11am, alongside pupils from City Academy, students from Argent College, JQBID staff, officers from West Midlands Police and members of the local community.
Volunteers from Arcadis helped the JQBID team get the cemetery paths and war memorial ready for the service and JQBID Clean Team and Ambassadors have decorated the area with giant poppies.
This year the appeal in the Jewellery Quarter raised £2,696.83!
