An exciting new tourist attraction that will be popular with all ages is coming to the Jewellery Quarter next year.
Wonderful World of Trains & Planes – an interactive attraction – will open just off St Paul’s Square in the former Derwent Foundry building.
The attraction traces the history of trains and planes throughout the world. It has been designed to thrill audiences with cleverly created scenery changes and the use of new technologies to bring the model world to life.
Managing director Peter Smith said: “Wonderful World has been a dream of mine for many years, so to see it coming together is so exciting. The Jewellery Quarter is the perfect location for this fabulous new tourist attraction that will be fun for all ages, which will evolve and grow and reflect the innovation that Birmingham is championing.”
Come and see a Chinese layout, which includes the world-famous Terracotta Army; view the splendour and elegance of the Orient Express as it travels through Europe; or a large freight train as it makes its way across Canada.
The history of planes will be played out from the first flight by the Wright Brothers up to the super jumbo A380 and the Dreamliner.
Visitors will also be able to take off, fly and land a Boeing 747 in a simulator and listen in to Air Traffic Control.
A miniature Le Mans racetrack will let visitors test their racing skills in both daylight and nighttime conditions.
