Free Family Fun at Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter Festival
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Jewellery Quarter festival is returning for a second year and bringing a flurry of free family friendly events. From Friday July 22nd – Sunday 24th July, the Quarter will be taken over by performers, food stalls, free activities and more, making it perfect place for a day out with the whole family.
Taking place across the Golden Square and St Paul’s Square and with a programme jam packed of the very best the JQ has to offer, there’s plenty in store including live music throughout and a free helter skelter for kids of all ages.
Make sure you don’t miss out on these great family activities:
Mad Science, Golden Square – Saturday 23rd July, 11-12pm
If your little ones have an interest in the weird and wonderful world of science, Mad Science will be there to spark even more of their imaginations. Designed to encourage scientific literacy, your children definitely won’t think they’re at school with the range of entertaining and educational interactive activities which will leave them wanting more.
CircusMASH Golden Square – Saturday 23rd July, 2-4pm
For the second year in a row, the JQ Festival is playing host to CircusMASH, and this year they bring with them their Hullabaloo performance. Self-described as a beautiful display of structured chaos, this performance coincides with circus workshops which will take little one’s on their very own circus journey, teaching them various skills and making them part of the Hullabaloo mayhem.
Granny Turismo Golden Square – Saturday 23rd July, 4pm & 5:30pm
See your granny as you’ve never seen her before, with a performance from the World’s first and only Shopping Trolley Dance Display Group, Granny Turismo. If you thought heading down to the shops was less than entertaining, be prepared for a surprise as these ladies rock up on their suped-up shopping trolleys ready to enliven the crowd with their dance routines and circle shows.
Throughout the weekend there will also be a free music workshop taking place in the Big Peg reception, courtesy of Fair Deal Music, where children of all ages can try out a range of musical instruments as well as free facing painting. Kids can also enjoy a flight simulator on Mary Street or challenge family members to a scaletrix race in St Paul’s Square.
