St Paul’s Lunchtime Concerts

Thu 13th Apr 12:30pm – 1:30pmSt Paul’s Church, St Paul’s Square, Birmingham B3, UKSt Paul’s are delighted to welcome back performers from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire for the free Thursday Lunchtime Concerts.This month, we welcome the Reece Downton Quartet who will perform Jazz at the lunchtime concert.Reece Downton is a Birmingham based Musician currently finishing his Post Graduate studies In Jazz at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. He is joined by fellow students Luca Gianassi, Thomas Marsh, and graduate Tom Pountney. Whilst taking his various projects all over the Midlands, Reece’s most notable contribution to the Birmingham Jazz scene is founding the successful Digbeth Jazz night, Jazz at the Ruin, in March 2022, where Reece has performed with and hosted musicians such as Maria Grapsa, Luke Chakrabarti, Nick Manz, Clark Tracey and many more! In 2022 Reece’s quartet supported Paul Dunmall’s album launch ‘Yes Tomorrow’ at the Eastside Jazz club. The quartet explore different ways to arrange classic standards, opting to prefer a collaborative approach to the writing and arranging process. Each musician creates ideas and pushes for development in the ensemble.From March to October, every 2nd Thursday of the month, come along to St Paul’s and enjoy your lunch while listening to some of the best up and coming classical and jazz musicians in the West Midlands.
