Burial Information Stall & Sales Stall

Burial information for Key Hill cemetery & Warstone Lane cemetery.The Friends of Key Hill cemetery & Warstone Lane cemetery Information & sales stalls / gazebo will be in Warstone Lane cemetery.The Friends be able to assist with a burial index for both Key Hill cemetery from 1836 non-denominational (formally The General cemetery) and Warstone Lane cemetery from 1848 C of E ( also known as Brookfields cemetery) and subject to volunteers on the day may be able to show you your ancestors resting place.Don’t miss out on this unique chance to get all the burial information you need. Join us inside Warstone Lane cemetery on Sat 28 October 2023 We look forward to welcoming you!It would be helpful if you bring the following with you. Names & dates of death, Notepad & Pen ( although the Friends do sell novelty bone pens).The sales stall will be selling various items to raise funds for damaged & broken graves aide the Friends Grave Restoration Fund.Items for sale include , new and used books , bone shaped pens, limited edition bags , limited edition tea towels , magnets, bookmarks etc.Non-denominational Key Hill Cemetery was Birmingham’s first cemetery (not being a church yard) and was formally known as The General Cemetery. Neighbouring Church of England Warstone Lane Cemetery was Birmingham’s second cemetery. Both cemeteries were privately owned. The cemeteries fell into decline when the cemeteries became full and did not generate an income.Since the 1980’s some of our volunteers have been caring for the cemeteries – finding hidden footpaths and steps, uncovering sunken graves as well as researching the lives of those who rest in these two historic cemeteries.Friends of Key Hill Cemetery & Warstone Lane Cemetery who are all volunteers, officially formed in 2004 and care for the cemeteries as well as raising funds for damaged and broken graves aiding the Friends restoration fund.This is achieved by membership, cemetery guided tours, catacomb guided tours , donations and sales at open days and history fairs.
