Kick start the festivities at the JQ Light Switch On
Reading Time: 2 minutes
At a stone’s throw away from Birmingham City Centre, make the Jewellery Quarter the place to kick-start your festive season.
On Friday 18th November from 5 – 7pm, the Golden Square in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter will be the stage for this year’s Christmas Light Switch On.
The Switch On event will feature food and seasonal drink to warm you, with hearty favourite Esmies’ Carribean & Seafood and succulent sweet treats from Platinum Pancakes. We are delighted to announce that The Glamophones will be joining us from 5-6pm with some festive covers and feel good classics followed by Real Breeze from 6:10pm to get you in the Friday feeling!
The Lord Mayor & Lady Mayoress will join us at 6pm to flip the switch on the festive lights followed by an explosive firework display from the roof of the Big Peg Office building.
Each year the Jewellery Quarter BID install bespoke Christmas Lights across the Quarter. The design of these lights are inspired by the area’s rich heritage in the Jewellery and manufacturing industries, sporting motifs such as the renowned Assay Office Anchor, rings and jewellery boxes. The scheme expands year-on-year to incorporate more streets into it for the enjoyment of more local businesses. This year we have expanded the scheme to George Street and Northampton Street. This scheme is funded by the JQBID Levy.
