Work on the 0.7 mile expansion to the Midland Metro was completed last week – and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
The new expansion now allows trams to run direct from New Street station to the Jewellery Quarter in approximately 7 minutes at the cost of £1 for an adult single.
“Despite delays, the expansion is great news for anyone living, working or visiting the Jewellery Quarter, ” comments Luke Crane, Manager of the Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District (JQBID). “Now, more than ever, it is quick, easy and cheap to get here which means more people can discover what the JQ is all about. With summer fast approaching, and our up-coming Jewellery Quarter Festival among an array of events and attractions, the expansion could not have come at a better time for us.”
