Reading Time: < 1 minute

Staying active and healthy is at the top of many people’s New Years Resolution but it can be hard to find the type of exercise that suits you. To help you narrow it down we have compiled a list of some of the many exercise and fitness opportunities available in the JQ which are also shown on this handy Google Map. Many companies offer discounts for new clients.

If you are looking for Yoga, Pilates or movement based exercise you are truly spoilt for choice in the JQ with Yoga Haven providing hot yoga, COOL Pilates Studio offering group classes as well as specialised postnatal and backcare courses, City Yoga have classes for all skill levels in an intimate setting, and Body Karma’s fitness classes focus on form and posture.

The JQ hosts several state-of-the-art gyms many of whom offer personalised training programmes including Birmingham Fit Body Bootcamp, Temple Gym, Henrietta Street Gym, The Eagle Kickboxing Academy, and Kaizen Fitness.

Martial Arts can offer a full body and mind work-out. Bushido Academy and the Midlands Wing Chun Kung Fu School offer a variety of styles and classes for all ages.

For a challenge with a difference the Birmingham Bouldering Centre is only a short walk from Snow Hill Station and next door is the Brazilian Cultural Centre offering a host of classes including Caopeira and Samba. For another club with a twist, Good Gym Birmingham combines doing good with getting fit. The group meets every Tuesday at 6pm in the 1000 Trades and run circa 5km while undertaking a good deed at a local charity in the city.
