Kim Leary, CEO of Birmingham based Squibble Ltd, was yesterday named Young Entrepreneur beating off several competitors to win the prestigious award at the Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards. We caught up with her to ask about this achievement.
Kim Leary is MD of Squibble Ltd, a brand and web design specialist on Frederick Street. “I love what I do and work with a fantastic team but being named Young Entrepreneur is a fantastic recognition and a huge confidence boost.” Her business works with start-ups as well as multinationals, including McDonalds, Marks and Spencer and Auto Trader. They focus on developing strategies that involve monitoring the marketplace to identify profitable opportunities and technological trends related to graphic design, web development and marketing.
We asked her what it was like to own a small business in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. “As a creative agency working in the heart of the JQ we are surrounded by so much inspiration. The Quarter is alive with young and vibrant SME’s like us – It’s a fantastic community to be part of and we continue to embrace the culture.”
The Awards took place yesterday at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Birmingham, before an audience of senior and influential business leaders. The prestigious Women in Business Awards were first established to highlight and celebrate the outstanding performance and results achieved by the leading women in business. WIBA looks to celebrate female leaders who are at the forefront of their industry and bear a vast responsibility, utilising their ingenuity, creativity and industry experience to steer their firm through growth.
Griselda Togobo, MD and owner of Forward Ladies, which runs the Women in Business Awards said: “Our National Women in Business Awards Programme is in its 7th year and we are once again delighted to be working in partnership with HSBC to showcase the best women-led businesses in the UK. There is a huge amount of female talent across the UK and it’s an honour to be able to showcase and celebrate their achievements.”
“This year has been the biggest celebration yet and we are incredibly impressed by the caliber and quality of the applications. It has been truly outstanding.”
