Last chance to catch Scalextric Super Prix!

Get in gear for the final time at WWTP as  Scalextric Super Prix reaches its final lap.

It’s time for budding Lewis Hamiltons to get in gear and make a final bid for the leader board this bank holiday weekend as the Wonderful World of Trains and Planes (WWTP) Scalextric Super Prix championship enters its last lap.

With the WWTP Scalextric Super Prix championship running parallel to the 2016 Formula One championship, it’s off to Belgium on 28 August for the final grand prix of the WWTP season. With four rounds of the championship already completed for the Bahrain, Canadian, British and German Grand Prixs, the Belgian Grand Prix represents the last chance for wannabe racers to get their name into the top six of the Leaderboard and a place in the Superprix

Final in September.

Those taking part in the championship are challenged to complete 10 laps of the WWTP indoor Scalextric circuit as quick as possible using the Scalextric Grand Prix racing cars. The fastest time on the Leaderboard so far is 1.01 minutes with the sixth quickest currently standing at 1.10 minutes, so any time below the 1.10 mark during the Belgian Grand Prix weekend will result in a place in the Grand Final.

Steve Jordan, Director at Wonderful World of Trains and Planes, said: “The WWTP Scalextric Super Prix championship is getting close to its thrilling climax with the Belgian Grand Prix on Bank Holiday weekend, the final chance to qualify for the final.

“By running our event alongside the current Formula One season we have been looking to inspire motorsports fans both young and old to come along and put their racing skills to the test on our miniature version of the Grand Prix tracks.

“It’s certainly seems to have gone down well with everyone, we have even had Free Radio’s Breakfast Show hosts Foxy and Gemma putting their skills to the test, and it’s all now set up for the final lap on the way to the Super Prix Final.”

The Scalextric Super Prix championship has run throughout the summer months with a championship race-off final between the top six on the Leaderborad taking place in September to decide the overall champion for the season.

The overall winner will receive the 2016 Championship trophy, a new boxed Scalextric set and an Annual Family Pass.
