50 roses are being planted in and around the Jewellery Quarter station to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The Queen Elizabeth II rose was officially selected by HM The Queen and has been launched to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee. Roses are being planted inside the Jewellery Quarter station and on Vyse Street to form a stunning display.

The rose, bred by Harkness Roses will flower pink throughout the Summer

The rose has large classic shaped flowers which combine elements of soft pink, light amber gold, and cream, and gives off a strong sweet rose scent. Flowering over a long period throughout the Summer, the display will welcome passengers as they arrive to the Jewellery Quarter by train or tram.

The roses have been planted in all twelve planters along both station platforms, which were installed last year as part of the JQBID’s Adopt a Station scheme. The JQBID team are also planting the flowers inside planters that are situated outside the shop fronts along Vyse Street.

Proceeds from the Queen Elizabeth II rose are being donated to the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST), a charity dedicated to excellence in British craftmanship.
