Italic Calligraphy with Nick Caulkin

In this workshop, Nick Caulkin of the Birmingham Calligraphy Society will show how to write the italic script with accompanying capitals. Italic is a very elegant and versatile script and can be used for a variety of purposes.

Participants will need to have a calligraphy (italic) fountain pen set. These have an edged (chisel) nib to allow you to make thick and thin strokes.

Sets available from Manuscript or William Mitchell are available from the Pen Museum shop or widely online from a number of suppliers.

Nick recommends a beginners three nib set for the workshop.

Additional materials needed:

HB Pencil/Ruler/A4 lined paper/A4 plain paper.

Museum admission not included.
