11 57
Piercing through the Birmingham music scene come 11 57 (Eleven Fifty-Seven), a young heavy rock band with elements of punk and modern psychedelia. The group are influenced by bands such as Tame Impala, Idles, The Strokes and Queens of the Stone Age. They’ve found an explosive sound and attitude which delivers a refreshing punch in the face alongside the usual indie scene that has dominated Birmingham for the last few years. The band achieves its raw energy by merging growling bass riffs and creative technical drumming with Joey’s dynamic guitar playing, showcasing a perfect mix of both menacing and soft tones.

Life In Mono

Occasionally an artist emerges with something so unique, challenging and intriguing that you can’t help but want to get behind the guitar overdrive and explore what’s really underneath. Life In Mono’s front-woman Sarah Clayton is one such provocateur.

Life In Mono have been refining their sound – a blend of 90’s grunge, huge, heavy rock topped with a stunning vocal. Life In Mono’s sound combines thrashy guitars reminiscent of Placebo’s early records, the darkness of Mazzy Star and lyrical sophistication of PJ Harvey. With a 4-track EP in Autumn 2019 and their debut album scheduled for 2020 Life In Mono adhere to the Jack White approach of analogue, old guitars, vintage amps and home made guitar pedals creating a wild, barely-tamed live energy. Fronted by Sarah Clayton, Life In Mono disclose a compelling narrative. This isn’t a story of being chewed up and spat out by the music industry, drug addiction and expensive rehab. This is the story of a girl making sense of her world through her music, of 27 years and 5 hazy hospital admissions, this is a voice of unwavering talent;

this is a story of resilience.
