Businesses recommend UCB restaurant following BID levy payer dinner

More than 40 local business owners attended the JQ BID’s first levy payer dinner last night.

For many it was a chance to meet fellow levy payers, maybe for the first time, and experience the fantastic venue and facility that is UCB’s atrium restaurant.

Members of the JQ BID team, including Stephen Whittaker, Luke Crane, the BID ambassadors and members of the marketing committee were also present, with Stephen and Luke giving guests an update on recent BID initiatives such as the website, magazine and Christmas activity.

For those that have never visited the UCB’s restaurants before, guests from yesterday’s dinner will be the first to recommend the facilities, which are ran by students taking hospitality and catering courses at the university.

Guests enjoyed a delicious three-course dinner accompanied by a selection of the restaurant’s best wines.

There was also a chorus of Happy Birthday for one guest, who was presented with a cake made by Dawn Gemmell, head of bakery at UCB, who recently created a spectacular “toybox” celebration cake for Prince George. The cake was presented to the Duke of Cambridge during a private visit to the university in November 2013.

It really was a great night of networking, getting to know fellow BID levy payers and discovering a new venue for hosting business lunches and events.

Feedback from the event on the night and the following day has been extremely positive, so we are looking to make it a regular event in the BID diary.
