The weather is getting cooler and the leaves are turning, but there’s still plenty to do in the JQ this Autumn, including loads of family activities during half term and Halloween.

Blue Orange Theatre – The Dinosaur Show

21st October – 23rd October

Prehistoric smash hit The Dinosaur Show returns to Birmingham for one week only! Packed with fun, facts, laughter and incredible puppetry, The Dinosaur Show will delight and excite all children big and small over the age of 3.

 

Escape Live

Open 7 days a week 9.30am – 9.30pm

Race against the clock to solve the clues and escape the room! Choose from a number of family-friendly themed rooms, dare to enter the terrifying thrill of “Room 13” for a more spooky Halloween trick or join the Peaky Blinders in ‘The Raid’.

 

Halloween Fun at The Coffin Works

Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th October, 12-3pm.

Come to the Coffin Works Museum for extra spooky, spectacular Halloween fun! With free entry for children in costume (must be accompanied by a paying adult) and a weekend packed with ghostly goings-on.

 

 

Pumpkin Spectacular

Thursday 27th October 4pm – 7pm

Free fun for all the family in Warstone Lane Cemetery where the catacombs circle will be lit up with an atmospheric display of pumpkins.
Bring a carved pumpkin to add to the display, or carve one on site (£2 per pumpkin) and enjoy stalls and activities while you await the sunset and the lighting of the pumpkins.

 

Shakespeare’s First Folio at The Hive Gallery

26th October from 1pm – 6pm

Event is free and all are welcome.
The Hive is one of the many venues across Birmingham that will be hosting the Shakespeare’s First Folio tour as part of the ‘Everything to Everybody’ project, which aims to bring Shakespeare back to the people of Birmingham. The first folio was published in 1623 and was the first published collection of Shakespeare’s plays.

 

 

Calligraphy Class at The Pen Museum

23rd October – 12pm til 3pm

Classes with Shiela Smith held at the Pen Museum. Classes are designed for both beginners and more experienced calligraphers. Learn the key elements of calligraphy and take information away to continue developing your style at home.

 

 

Workshops at the RBSA Gallery

20th – 29th October 2022

Workshops lead by RBSA artists in a range of disciplines including Life Drawing, Painting, Pastels, Lino cutting, Photography, hand stitching and paper cutting.

 

 

Kids Jewellery Workshop

October 25th

Special children’s jewellery workshop activity. Design and create either a bracelet or pendant, learn and use real jewellers’ techniques to make something unique to take home.

Catacombs Tours – Key Hill Cemetery

This Halloween view the interior catacombs in Key Hill cemetery, a rare chance to see inside with guided tours run by the Friends of key Hill Cemetery and Warstone Lane Cemetery. Booking is essential as these events are extremely popular.
