Unique Find: Platinum Dreams

Sammy Dingley has been a busy bee this month, setting up her new wedding shop, Platinum Dreams, just in time for the wedding season. The boutique bridal shop, based on Caroline Street, opened its doors on Friday 20th February and will officially launch with a themed party in March.

Luke Crane, JQBID manager, went to visit Sammy to welcome her to the growing list of businesses in the Jewellery Quarter that can provide services for couples looking to tie the knot.

What kind of dresses will brides-to-be find at Platinum Dreams?

We stock a wide range of designers to suit all types of body shapes and personalities, from relaxed and bohemian to ultra glam. The dresses come from all over the world, so it’s unlikely that you’ll spot another bride in the same dress in any photographs!

Platinum Dreams has exclusivity on its stocked brands of Allure Bridal, Madison James and Demetrios in the area, so if you’re looking for something unique, you’ll find it here.

Do you only sell wedding dresses?

No, we also stock a wide range of bridesmaid dresses, which is ideal as the bride-to-be can visit with her bridal party to spend an afternoon selecting the perfect dresses. Our Dessy Bridesmaid gowns come in a wide range of colours and styles, which means that there will be plenty to choose from. We also stock accessories from veils to tiaras that will complement each gown.

There is also a smaller selection of prom dresses. Customers are welcome to spend some time in the store experimenting with different dress and accessory combinations.

Why did you choose the Jewellery Quarter?

I choose the Quarter as it seemed like a natural fit for my business. There’s no where else in Birmingham that has such a wide range of bridal businesses in one place. Although there are other bridal shops, I noticed a gap in the market to offer a boutique experience. The Quarter’s got everything for loved up couples from dresses and rings to cakes and venues.

I’ve been impressed with the Jewellery Quarter community as well as it’s rich heritage. The local businesses are very supportive of each other and the visitors are always friendly.

What experience can customers expect from Platinum Dreams?

Customers can expect a boutique experience. You can either make an appointment to have the whole shop to yourself or just pop in to browse our rails.

We have an incredibly talented seamstress who works fabric like a fine art. She’ll listen to any ideas and alternatives you might have for your chosen gown. You could even walk away with your own bespoke piece if you have something very specific in mind. We know that every bride is different and unique and we want to make the process of choosing a gown to be as enjoyable and easy as possible.

Platinum Dreams hosts its official launch party on Friday March 6th. Don your best outfits for the ‘Dollies and Dickie Bows’ theme. You’ll also receive a glass of bubbly on arrival to get you in the party mood. For more information click here.
