School of Jewellery

The School of Jewellery on Vittoria Street has been located in the heart of Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter since 1890. The multi award-winning building is the largest School of Jewellery in Europe, with outstanding atrium gallery and exhibition hall spaces, and houses a complex array of workshops. This extraordinary listed Venetian Gothic building is a fitting home for a stunning modern art school. The exterior architecture of the building is an excellent example of traditional local vernacular, while the interior is a contemporary, purpose built environment filled with natural light from a glass roof and open atrium exhibition space. The School is in a truly inspiring setting in which to learn a craft.

Students can chose from a unique and enviable portfolio of courses, including jewellery, silversmithing, horology and gemmology, and will be exposed to the full range of traditional techniques and cutting edge technology. The school also benefits from the close proximity of the University’s Jewellery Industry Innovation Centre (JIIC), which offers expertise in industry related techniques, such as CAD/CAM, rapid prototyping and laser technology.
