Family Fun at Wonderful World of Trains & Planes this Easter
It’s on track for an exciting Easter at WWTP with launch of Design a Train competition, Flight School and egg hunt
Visitors to The Wonderful World of Trains and Planes(WWTP) are in for a trio of Easter treats with a Design a Train competition, new Flight School and egg hunt all launched during the holiday period.
The new Design a Train competition is asking young visitors to fire up their imagination and develop the perfect train interior complete with everything you would need to make a train journey as fun and interactive an experience as possible.
With two age categories of 5-9 years old and 10 -15 years old, the competition winners will each receive a Hornby Caledonian Belle train set and have their winning design on display at the WWTP site.
The competition will launch on Monday 21 March, with the winner announced at the end of the Easter holiday period. All the designs can be submitted either at the WWTP attraction, WWTP website or WWTP’s Facebook or Twitter platforms.
During the same week WWTP will launch its new Flight School experience, aimed at budding young pilots with highflying ambitions who are looking to test their skills across a range of different planes.
Aimed at children aged 8 and above, the young high flyers will receive a certificate when first signing up for Flight School, followed by the challenge of successfully completing five solo flights – one per visit to WWTP.
Beginning with landing a Microlite, youngsters will move on to a Micro lite take-off and land, a Seaplane take-off and land, a Cessna landing and finally a Cessna take-off and land – with all five completed challenges qualifying each young pilot for a cuddly WWTP pilot bear and flight completion certificate.
Jane Jordan, Jane Jordan, director of the Wonderful World of Trains & Planes, said: “We are looking forward to an exciting Easter at WWTP with a trio of new activities launched for the holiday period.
“The Design a Train competition is all about creating the best train journey possible. We therefore want entrants to think about everything from the best seating you could have, on-board activities, different types of technology and gadgets – all the things you would want to make the perfect train journey experience.
“Our Flight School offers budding young pilots of the future the chance to reach for the skies right now by gaining valuable experience of flying a variety of planes available through our in-house flight simulators.
“With a pilot’s certificate and our cuddly WWTP Flight Bears on offer to those who complete the challenge, we hope the new Flight School proves a really popular new addition to our programme of activities.”
Throughout the Easter Holiday weekend there will be daily Egg spotting with children counting the mini Easter eggs hidden on the trains and rewarded with an Easter chocolate treat.
Visitors with Easter bonnets are encouraged to bring them along, as there will be the opportunity to submit photos of the best bonnets to WWTP’s social media platforms.
