Birmingham Opera Company is a theatre company which creates and stages opera in unpredictable and unusual places. Rather than working in conventional theatres, they conjure their theatres out of spaces used for other purposes or abandoned. Their flexible company experiments with space and acoustics and can be reinvented for each project, existing to make the art rather than the other way around.

Stan’s Cafe is one of Britain’s foremost contemporary theatre companies, based in Birmingham, and famous for its strong international touring and experimental theatre in unusual locations. In January 2009, the Theatre Company moved into a disused part of the A.E. Harris metal working factory in the Jewellery Quarter. Stan’s Cafe is a group of artists from a variety of disciplines, though primarily theatre practitioners, working under the artistic direction of James Yarker. The company consists of a core of long term collaborators and a range of associated artists. The line up changes according to the project being worked upon.
