Jewellery Quarter Association
The JQA aims to:
• Promote the Quarter’s unique history and preserve its buildings
• Protect the traditional and inherent jewellery industry and trade
• Support designers/makers and all types of businesses
• Promote and encourage excellence in the products and services of the Jewellery Quarter
• Help develop tourism
• Engage with local resident associations
• Encourage businesses to relocate and set up in the area
• Liaise closely with the Police on security and safety
• Work closely with Birmingham City Council
The JQA is administered by a maximum of 10 Directors who stand for re-election on a regular basis. An Executive Committee (comprising Directors and selected members) meets regularly to discuss and take forward issues of importance to the Jewellery Quarter. Active members are always encouraged to be involved in this Committee.
Benefits of becoming a member include:
• Bi-monthly breakfasts (free for members) to update members and their guests and provide a forum for debate and networking. Senior Council politicians and Officers are usually in attendance, and subjects range from issues needing members’ views or assistance to the informative, historical and educational.
• A monthly newsletter published in the Hockley Flyer.
• Business support and promotion in a variety of areas – property matters, legal. Links with the Chamber of Commerce allowing members access to advice via a JQA Director.
The Jewellery Quarter Association is the voice of the community and it does make a difference.
