24 Carrots announces two Jewellery Quarter markets for 2013

24 Carrots will host two markets in 2013 in the beautiful surroundings of St Paul’s Square in the Jewellery Quarter, on Thursday 22nd August and 12th December, 4 – 9pm.

The group has been a bit quiet since the fantastic Christmas market held in St. Paul’s Square in December 2012. During this time, it has been thinking carefully on the future of the market.

A spokesperson for 24 Carrots, said: “Through canvassing with the local community and various stakeholders, we have realised that monthly markets will need to remain on hold. The 24 Carrots team will be assessing this on an on-going basis and may revisit this in the future. However, there was such a good response from the Christmas market, we feel the best way to go forward is special one off markets within the heart of the Quarter.

“The previous committee for 24 Carrots stepped down at the AGM last week (10th August). However, 24 Carrots will live on! The Jewellery Quarter Neighbourhood Forum (JQNF) will be taking over the running of the markets, keeping the 24 Carrots aims and values alive and ensuring the continuation of markets for the residents and businesses of the Jewellery Quarter in the future.

“The former committee would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support since our start in 2009. The market never would have happened if it wasn’t for those JQ residents, businesses and visitors supporting it. We would also like to thank the Jewellery Quarter Development Trust, Birmingham City Council and Councillor Kath Hartley for their help, guidance and continued support of the market. A special thanks to our stallholders; their presence brought some great food and character into the area. We hope you will continue to support them at all the local markets, and at the special Jewellery Quarter markets that will be happening in the coming months.”

The JQNF has two dates planned for markets in 2013; one on Thursday 22nd August from 4 to 9pm and a Christmas Market on Thursday 12th December, both at St. Paul’s Church in St Paul’s Square. The first is a small market to complement the St. Paul’s barbecue. Droplet is supporting this market, and the JQNF will be working with them and our stallholders to encourage sign-ups and usage of the app on the day. The Christmas Market aims to build on the success of last year’s market; as well as offering wonderful food there will be the chance to purchase unique and individual gifts. It is also a good chance to meet your neighbours in the area.
